Holy Rosary Healthcare Therapy Services Department now offers an innovative program dedicated to the prevention and management of work-related injuries. The Isernhagen Work Systems® (IWS) program combines injury prevention education, Pre-Work Screening, ergonomic job and work site analysis and Functional Capacity Evaluations to produce a safe management and prevention program ― one in which employers and employees work together to reduce the risks of work-related injuries.
Recently three of the Holy Rosary Healthcare therapy staff underwent an extensive 4 day training session through IWS out of Duluth, Minnesota. "We are very excited to be able to offer these programs to the community," commented Tracy Vosler, Therapy Services Manager and participating physical therapist. "By providing these programs locally, it is a tremendous benefit to both the employees and employers. It significantly reduces the stresses of having to travel for these services."
Using the IWS, employers benefit by improved financial performance, achieving a happier and healthier and more productive workforce while gaining a better understanding of and control over their total injury problems which leads to prevention. Employees benefit by reduced risk of lost compensation caused by disability, safer workplaces and work practices, comfort of knowing when it is safe to return to the workplace, and better communication and knowledge. Physicians have confidence in accurate functional testing and job analysis that leads either to a medical release to return to work or appropriate rehabilitation intervention.
